Entry Requirements

Taiwan is open to certain fully vaccinated and not fully vaccinated travellers. They must comply with requirements detailed in the COVID-19 Test, Quarantine, and Forms sections. 

Here is who can travel to Taiwan right now:

  • Nationals of Taiwan, and their spouses or underage children. 

  • Foreign nationals holding an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) and their spouses or underage children.

  • Business travellers with an APEC Business Travel Card. They must prove their business travel purpose.

  • Students who obtain permission issued by the Ministry of Education. 

  • Foreign nationals who obtain entry permission for emergency or humanitarian reasons. 

  • Hong Kong, Macao, or Mainland China residents whose purpose of entry is to fulfil contractual obligations or is a part of internal transfers within multinational enterprises; when they are the spouse or the underage child of a R.O.C. national; or when they obtain permission under special programs.

  • Passengers with a "SPECIAL ENTRY PERMIT FOR COVID-19 OUTBREAK" visa.  

  • Passengers with a MOFA ID.

  • Foreign nationals with a special entry permit (visa) for volunteer work, religious work, study of religious doctrine, internships, international exchanges.

  • Foreign nationals with a Working Holiday Scheme (Youth Mobility programs).

Forms & Applications

All fully vaccinated and not fully vaccinated passengers have to complete the online Entry and Quarantine System on their mobile device within 48 hours before departure. After arrival in Taiwan, the system sends an automatically generated SMS. 

 

Besides, passengers who are undergoing quarantine in a quarantine facility on hotel must have a confirmed booking. 

 

Important: Fully vaccinated passengers must present a vaccine certificate that complies with Taiwan's requirements. Passengers must ensure they meet the requirements to be considered fully vaccinated. 

Quarantine Requirements

All fully vaccinated and not fully vaccinated passengers have to undergo quarantine and take COVID-19 tests:

  • Quarantine duration: 3 days + 4 days of selfinitiated epidemic prevention.

  • Accommodation:  quarantine hotel, home, or a residence of a friend or relative. 

  • Keep in mind:                               

    • The day of arrival is regarded as day 0. 

    • Passengers have to purchase a local SIM card at the airport for the purpose of location tracking during quarantine.  

    • During self-initiated epidemic prevention, passengers have to comply with the following guidelines:                   

      • Avoid going outside unless necessary.

      • A negative result from an at-home rapid test taken within two days should be presented if a traveller needs to go out to work or buy daily necessities.

      • Masks must be worn at all times when outside and social distancing must be maintained.
